Dec 17 - 23th, 2012

Well, I'm a little behind but not too far that I can not catch up easily.

The biggest news this week is that there wasn't any 'Big Bang' on the 21st as per the Mayan calendar.  Now people are stating that the Mayan calendar was just an indication of an end of an era and we are beginning a new era.  I like that.  I like to think that everyday we are beginning again.

Tamara finished school at noon on the 21st for the start of her school holidays.  Friday night, she went to a friend's house for a potluck dinner Christmas party and Myron & I headed over to the Bridges for a little get together.

Saturday we headed up to Edmonton to have a mini Christmas with my Aunt, Uncle & Grandma.

Saturday was also my nephew, Ayden's (my brother's boy) birthday and my brother sent me some pictures.  Pat came down and celebrated with them.

Sunday we headed back to Calgary and got ready to head out to Manitoba for the holidays.

Dec 10th - 16th, 2012

Weekly recap-

The repair to the water main began Monday morning and by Monday evening, we had water again.  Yay!

Wednesday's date was 12 - 12 - 12 and was my Uncle's 66th birthday.

Thursday, Tamara & I joined with my friend, Anne J went to Kelsey's (her bestie's) school play, 'Les Mis'.

Friday was a normal day until the horrible news of the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, USA where 27 people died - and 20 of them were school children only 6 or 7 years old.  My stomach was sick of hearing the horrific news.  Sometimes I do not understand how things like that can happen.

I wanted to post one of the photos but decided the best thing was to provide the link.  Global News.

Saturday, Tamara started a diploma prep class for Math at Renert Centre at the U of C.  She really enjoyed her class that day.  She missed out performing at The Core with the Youth Singers and her doing her little solo but I believe it was the right decision.  (So does she.)

Sunday, Tamara & I went Cardel Place as the Youth Singers were performing.

December Daily Album 2012, the beginnings....

Following many blogs,  I got inspired and I decided to try and make a December Daily album.  It was too late for me to order the kit through Calico Studio as it was sold out but I could order the stamp set through Technique Tuesday and the overlays from Ali Edwards and Designer Digitals.  I decided to try just a 4X6 album as it seems small & simple, so that is the size of overlays I bought.  What I didn't anticipate was how difficult it was to find a 4X6 album that was binder style & landscape.

I hunted & searched & hunted again.  I came across a recipe book that had 2up, 4X6 recipe cards that would be perfect.  All I would need to do is cover the album.  Just used parcel paper then embellished.

I printed & cut out my overlays on white card stock.  I decided I wanted to wait till I got the stamp from Technique Tuesday before embellishing the pages.  Meanwhile I was perusing different blogs for different ideas and I came across this blog,  I Like Grey, and fell in love with her monochromic colour scheme of white, grey and black.

I thought..... ohhhhhh......  I like this.  I want to try it.  So I started pulling grey/white coloured patterned paper and started making my foundation pages and front & back covers.  My take on 'I Like Grey's' album.

Today is also 12.12.12 and many scrapbookers especially those who follow Dear Lizzy are going to try the 'Daily Dozen: 12 on 12.  I have my camera out, so I may try this.  We'll see.

Today is also my Uncle's 66th birthday.

A big shout out to him - 'Happy Birthday Uncle Bob!'

Dec 3-9th, 2012

Weekly journal time!

Decided I couldn't wait any longer and have pulled out the Christmas boxes and wanted to start decorating though I had a busy week ahead and I wanted to save some of the tree trimming for Tamara.

Monday night, Second Chants did a two song performance for Carolfest held at Knox United Church.

Plus there's a little video of our second song.  I was the 9th day - unfortunately, you can not see me from the video angle but it's still a cute video.  (I think, anyways.)

Tuesday night Second Chants had a Christmas potluck over at one of the member's house.  (Thanks Alicia!) Good food, good times.

Thursday besides being my bowling league day with the 'Lady Golfers' was my running around errand day.  Trying to decide what to cook for supper on the weekend because my in-laws were coming back to visit for the weekend, I knew I had some shopping for groceries to do.  Then I received an e-mail from Myron & he told me that the Hutterite farmer came to the shop selling his chickens and Myron decided to pick up two chickens and two saskatoon berry pies.

A blurb from Myron's email:
"The Hutterites stopped by our shop this morning. I scored two smoked chickens and two Saskatoon Berry pies. They wouldn’t let me take their pictures – the old gal giggled, and I think she would have let me, but she said it was against her religion, then Ben came out and stopped me, wouldn’t even let me take a picture of his van. But here’s a picture of the most important evidence – the chicken and pies!'

I stopped by to visit David at work and invited him over for dinner on Saturday, so we decided we'd cook this food that night.

Myron had the urge to make a fire.  We watched in from inside the house, since outside was -22 without the windchill calculated in.
Woke up at 3:30am early Sunday morning to several snowploughs going down our street.  So got up to use the washroom & then grab a drink of water when I discovered we had no water.

When we got up in the morning, Myron had called the city and found out that there was a water main break in our area.  Two more calls throughout the morning discovered that there was a huge main break   - the intersection of Crowchild Tr SW & 33rd Ave SW - blocks from us and another at 19 St SW & 28 Ave SW.

Well!  That's our street.  Long & the short of it is that they are two separate incidences.  The break is right in front of our house & it is causes about 40 houses to be without water.  CBC news came by and did an interview with us.  And we finally got some fresh water trucks on our street to help us out.  Meanwhile, Myron & I are showering at the gym (Tamara went to her friend's).  My in-laws decided to head home in the afternoon instead of waiting till the next morning.  And we went out to eat.  As long as the repair doesn't take too long, we should be able to manage.

Here's the video from the CBC news clip.  (The 5 minute interview was edited down to a 30 second take. You can see Myron in at about 3:24 minutes.)

Later Sunday night we found out the repair to the main break in front of our house was to begin in the morning.  =) Lisa

Project Life: Mid Aug 09 to 1st week Jan 2010

I've had these pages completed for awhile but it's been a busy go for the past month and I am just getting to posting the pictures now:

This period was tough for me to do because it pictures memories of my Dad's illness & passing.  And scrapping about it, I found that it was healing.  And then I felt that I could move on.

For our Christmas layout album, I created this page:

I have other things I want to blog, but will wait for another post.  Still catching up!  =) Lisa
